Muslims are targeted by the racist far right, and western leaders justify their Middle East wars by claiming that Islam is ‘reactionary’. Islamophobia has been normalised.
Muslims are routinely abused and attacked in the street and blamed for society’s ills. This is classic ‘divide and rule’ and it has been driven from above by politicians and the media.
