Two legendary live bands in one night.
After over 45 years on the road, The Blockheads are one of the most influential and irrepressible rock ‘n’ funk bands.
Formed in 1977 to partner the legendary Ian Dury on the first Stiff Records UK tour promoting his now classic New Boots and Panties!! album blending funk, punk, disco, and rock with hit singles and albums that followed.
The current band features original members Mick Gallagher, Chaz Jankel, Davey Payne, and John Turnbull augmented by long-term stalwart John Roberts on drums, a revolving line-up of sax players like Gilad Atzmon, Terry Edwards, and Dave Lewis, plus frontman, Mike Bennett. The original Blockheads line-up was extended with a host of great musicians including Wilko Johnson.
The legendary band perform classics ‘Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick’, ‘Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll’, ‘Sweet Gene Vincent’, ‘What a Waste’, ‘Reasons to be Cheerful, Part 3’, and more.
Rarely off the road since the demise of Ian Dury in 2000, The Blockheads have endured continuing to captivate audiences with their energetic live performances and a catalogue of hits that cement their status as musical mavericks with fans of all ages.
Eddie and the Hot Rods are one of the most iconic rock groups of the mid to late 1970s.
Their classic hits such as ‘Do Anything You Wanna Do’, ‘Quit This Town’, ‘Live at the Marquee’, and ‘Teenage Depression’ along with recent tracks from their 2023 album Guardians of the Legacy are powerfully reprised by this line-up that have been touring worldwide for over 20 years.
The spirit, power, and quality of songs and performance is what makes Eddie and the Hot Rods one of the best bands around.

PETER HOOK & THE LIGHT head to DLWP later this year to play the ‘Substance’ albums by Joy Division and New Order in full!
Peter Hook first revisited the seminal Joy Division album Unknown Pleasures back in May 2010 for a commemorative charity concert and has followed it each year by performing subsequent albums from the repertoire of his bands, Joy Division and New Order. Peter Hook & The Light have since moved through each of those albums, culminating in the Factory Records Substance compilations, and recently celebrated over four decades of the continuing influence of Joy Division and Ian Curtis with the Joy Division: A Celebration concerts, where both of the band’s albums were played in full.
In October this year, the band then played the Substance albums at the biggest ever London concert at the 5300 capacity Eventim Apollo.

Doors: 7pm
Hard-Fi make their welcome return with their first new material in ten years with the release of brand new single ‘Don’t Go Making Plans’ on Ignition Records. The track marks a taste of a forthcoming EP of brand new songs, as well as a big UK headline tour which kicks off here in Hastings this November.
With over a million UK album sales, 2 Number 1 albums (3 top 10s), and 5 Top 20 singles, Hard-Fi have been a phenomenon. Having made their debut with the Mercury Prize-shortlisted Stars Of CCTV in 2005, the four-piece proved progressive yet accessible, with tales of high street life, club-driven weekends and keeping your head above water on the breadline. The album yielded singles that included ‘Hard To Beat’, ‘Living For The Weekend’ and ‘Cash Machine’ – reached number 1, and has since been certified double platinum in the UK alone.
Second album Once Upon A Time In The West also topped the charts, and included lead single ‘Suburban Knights’, whilst third album Killer Sounds, was a Top 10 hit. The band also played one of the longest residencies at O2 Academy Brixton, a fully sold out feat they share with the likes of Bob Dylan, and The Clash, after performing at the landmark London venue for five nights straight in 2006.
Rolling around a sun-scorched groove and boisterous beats, ‘Don’t Go Making Plans’ is an immediate, soul-infused summer anthem, recorded at the band’s own Staines studio, produced by frontman Richard Archer and long-term contributor Wolsey White. It’s the end result of the first session together since 2011 album Killer Sounds and follows a series of sold-out tours and live shows over the last 18 months.
“Playing gigs together really rekindled the fire at the heart of the band, and as much as we enjoyed playing our older songs – and audiences loved hearing them, we all felt the urge to create something new.” Richard Archer
As with many of the band’s songs, there is a thought-provoking depth behind Hard-Fi’s pop sensibility. The song’s defiant themes were initially inspired by the UK Government’s attempts to criminalise many aspects of popular protest through the 2022 Public Order Act, while the issue has been thrown into even sharper focus over the last year as police and people have repeatedly clashed on streets around the globe.
The new single is taken from the forthcoming Don’t Go Making Plans EP released on November 1st, available on limited edition, numbered, transparent red 12”.

Benet McLean, a fantastic violinist, is one of the most highly regarded contemporary musicians in British jazz. His musical depth and exploration of the boundaries between musical genres make him a unique and constantly evolving artist. Inspired in his teens by the great bebop artists of the 1940s, Benet’s playing today reflects his early inspirations while also embracing many other musical influences.
Previously known best for his outstanding piano playing, Benet has released several critically acclaimed albums on piano. However in recent years, he has returned to the violin, fast emerging as a dynamic and innovative jazz violinist. His debut solo album on violin, Green Park, was released in November 2023 and has been met by praise from both critics and radio alike.
A gifted composer and arranger, live work with his own band focuses on violin-infused high-energy grooves interspersed with lyrical ballads, often augmented with pedals and effects, with exciting performances that showcase the breadth of his innovative violin style. Collaborations have included heading up the string quartet on Partikel’s acclaimed String Theory album and working on string sections with producer Troy Miller on albums by Laura Mvula and Mahalia. His violin playing is also featured on several other albums including Pyramid by Dan Goldman’s ElecTrio, Counteraction by Partikel, and the debut solo albums of trumpeter Andy Davies (Rise Of The Spider Monkey) and keyboardist Benjamin Croft (10 Reasons To…). He has also performed on violin with artists outside of jazz including Nightmares on Wax.
Benet has been playing music since the age of 3 years old when he first persuaded his parents to buy him a violin, and he undertook several years of classical training before turning his attentions to jazz. Some of the many other artists Benet has played or toured with, both in jazz and other fields, include Omar, Soweto Kinch, Binker Golding, Daniel Casimir, Julian Joseph, Steve Williamson, Orphy Robinson, Jean Toussaint, Cleveland Watkiss, TY, Roachford, Jay Phelps, Tommy Smith, Sir Simon Rattle, Kevin Haynes (see album Ori Ire), Maxi Jazz (Faithless) and Loose Tubes.
Benet also teaches and is a professor of jazz violin at the London Performing Academy of Music (LPMAM).
“…When listening to Benet McLean it is readily apparent that his is an important jazz violin voice up there with Ponty, Debski and Urbaniak. I am particularly happy because Benet reckons that when he was a kid my playing across the genres was of some encouragement to him. Now is an exciting time because from the chrysalis of his modern jazz mastery an inspirational and completely original style is emerging. Check it!”
