Proper old-fashined skiffle tunes in a brilliant pub setting.

There’s music every Tuesday evening at the Albion. Second and fourth Tuesdays it’s the the organised chaos of our “house band” the Albion Skiffle Company.

The band has been going for around 7 or 8 years now and started as a casual Tuesday night together usually with one man and a dog as an audience. Nowadays the night rocks and if you plan to eat make sure you book a table!

A mix of traditional skiffle numbers as a bedrock topped up with just about anything played on a multiverse of instruments.
Good mates, good times and it’s different every single time with the occasional hint of genius…

The only open mic session in town to offer use of a baby grand piano, Apples and Oranges In The Round provides a uniquely intimate and professional setting for performers.

Held at Mike’s on Norman Road, this inclusive event welcomes all performance types, from music and poetry to comedy and storytelling.

An original Badger curated bi-monthly showcase that nurtures and highlights emerging and ones to watch talent curated by talented young Badger promoters Jazz El Gamal and Nye Ghoshal.

The 31 July Artist Showcase event features both highlights from previous Badger events plus major headliner who reflects the underrepresented UK Rap and Hip Hop scene on the South Coast.

Headlining is Birmingham rapper Kofi Stone who is one of the UK’s most vital and respected voices in hip-hop. Known for his deeply reflective lyricism, storytelling, and fusion of jazz, soul, and hip-hop, Kofi has carved out a distinct space in British music built on honesty, vulnerability, and self-discovery.

His third project, All The Flowers Have Bloomed, marks the close of his “mixtape era” — completing a trilogy that began with Nobody Cares Till Everybody Does and A Man After God’s Own Heart. The project showcases Kofi at his creative peak, blending smoky, live instrumentation with poetic introspection and features from Jacob Banks, Maverick Sabre, Ady Suleiman and Tyler Daley (Children of Zeus).

Drawing inspiration from his poet grandfather and early exposure to soul, grime and hip-hop, Kofi’s artistry embodies patience, purpose, and authenticity. His journey — from recording through a telemarketing headset to touring internationally — reflects a steady rise built on discipline and heart.

Recently, Kofi collaborated with grime legend D Double E on the “Flowers Flow (Remix)”, bridging generations of UK rap and further expanding his sonic reach. A true storyteller and craftsman, Kofi Stone continues to blossom, his words, his music, and his message resonating more deeply than ever.

Dakka Skank the Brighton-based five-piece band known for blending ska, reggae, dub, and punk into a high-energy “hard reggae” style. Recognized for lead vocalist Clara Byrne’s dramatic delivery of socially conscious lyrics, often performing at major UK/European festivals and supporting acts like Madness, The Selector, and The Beat!

Jules Obe is a British Nigerian electronic producer and songwriter based in Brighton. His music invokes a cinematic and lyric-dense mix of hip-hop, indie, gospel and RnB with dubstep and hyperpop influences. Having cut his teeth as a studio producer with credits alongside Paloma Faith, RLY and Deyah, his sound is both polished and rugged, shaped by 10 years of self-taught production experience.

Cellar Arts Collective is a multidisciplinary collective from Sussex. The band’s music chases the sound of a fever dream, collating the nostalgia for times gone by with the rash and abrasive engineering style of their guitarist and resident producer Nova Lee. The project is a melting pot of genre blending and mismatching, crashing melancholy mantras of 2000s alternative pop lyricism against a love for Dub, R&B, Hip-Hop, Indie and all things low-fidelity and just this month they received BBC Introducing a clear sign of things to come.

As part of The Hidden Beach Summer of Culture we’re thrilled to host this showcase of live performances celebrating female-led sound, stories and creative leadership.

She Plays, We Listen is a curated Women in Music live performance session celebrating female-led sound, stories, and creative leadership as part of the Hidden Beach Summer of Culture.

The evening brings together a jazz pianist, percussionist, and vocalist, each performing individual sets that create space for focused listening and connection. Live piano, voice, and rhythm are presented as distinct expressions, each offering a different musical language and emotional tone. The session closes with a DJ set from Kim Cosmik, bringing the evening together through curated selection and shared rhythm.

Curtis Stigers is a singer, songwriter, saxophonist and guitarist whose 30-year career has defied easy categorisation. He first rose to prominence with his 1991 debut album, selling 1.5 million copies and producing hit singles including “I Wonder Why”. A year later, he recorded Nick Lowe’s “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace Love and Understanding” for The Bodyguard soundtrack, one of the best-selling albums of all time.

After further pop success in the 1990s, Stigers shifted direction in 2001, signing with Concord Jazz and releasing a series of acclaimed albums blending jazz with soul, blues, country and folk influences. He also co-wrote and performed the Emmy-nominated theme song “This Life” for Sons of Anarchy, while building a strong international touring career.

During the pandemic, Stigers launched his weekly livestream Songs From My Kitchen, performing intimate, stripped-back versions of songs from his catalogue alongside new material and covers. The project became one of his most creative periods, ultimately inspiring his 14th studio album, Songs From My Kitchen, Volume 1.

Born in Hollywood, raised in Idaho and shaped by years in New York, Stigers continues to perform worldwide, celebrated for his distinctive voice, musical versatility and instinctive approach to song.

It’s our absolute pleasure to host NYC-based Jonny Couch and his band of allstars as part of a UK mini-tour celebrating the release of his sophomore album Where The Sidewalk Ends.
Expect an evening of vibrant, synth-laced power pop, new wave and post-punk guitar hooks.

JONNY COUCH BIO

Rock ‘n’ roll drummer from the New York scene, Jonny Couch reinvented himself as a solo artist in 2016 with the acclaimed Animal Instinct EP, earning descriptions such as “a Bryan Ferry pop crooner” (Louder Than War) and “unpolished and charming” (High Times).
Blending power pop, indie rock, and new wave, Couch writes infectious rockers and heartfelt ballads inspired by the classic songwriting of the late ’70s and early ’80s. His latest album, Where The Sidewalk Ends (PG Roots / Damaged Sofa Records), was released on July 24, 2026.

A fixture in the New York/New Jersey music scene, Couch has shared the stage with The Fleshtones, The Nude Party, Paul Collins Beat, Josie Cotton, and The Plimsouls, while also performing at the Savannah Stopover Music Festival, the Hoboken Arts & Music Festival, Jersey City’s Lo-Fi Fest, and live on WFMU 91.1 FM.

His music has been featured by Louder Than War and is currently featured on the official CREEM Magazine playlist, with additional support from independent radio and music press throughout the U.S. and Europe.

For his UK tour, Couch performs as Jonny Couch & All-Star Band, featuring guitarist Peter Mavrogeorgis (Panther Burns), bassist Jonas Wilson, an Austin-based musician and producer who has collaborated extensively with BP Fallon, and drummer David and keyboardist Veronica of Savannah, Georgia indie band BERO BERO, who recently toured Japan.

Together, Jonny Couch & All-Star Band delivers a melodic, guitar-driven live show that captures the energy, hooks, and cinematic atmosphere of Where The Sidewalk Ends.
