Liverpool’s Spark were down in Hastings as part of the Off Axis tour programme – designed to put rising new bands in front of new audiences across the UK.

As guests of Hasting’s jazz-fusion groovers, someone/anyone, Spark played to an appreciative crowd on a difficult night. With Christmas approaching Hastings is awash with cool events, so getting everone into one place is something of a feat.

Those who made it along were treated to songs that shimmyed from classic rock riffs to mellow vibes – most notably the newly released single, Lemonade:

At this point, we’re sure some of our sharper fans will have noticed that in the last 24 hours we have changed our band name from ‘SPARK’ to ‘Mal Hijo.’

We wanted to let you all know that this is the *ONLY* thing that has changed here at SPARK. (Mal Hijo, damn) and we’re excited to keep on writing music that excites us and hopefully you beautiful people. We hope you like the new name and we hope our Spanish speaking fans will nod to us in approval.

So, whaddaya’ think?

Edgy, right?
