Hastings Open Mic Sessions

Be the talent, or just turn up and watch someone else be it.

Open mic is the cheapest night out in Hastings and the only one where the bill is decided by whoever walks through the door with a guitar. Most weeks there is one on somewhere — back rooms, front bars, Tuesday nights when nothing else is happening.

You do not have to play. Half the room never does. But if you want to, the rule is the same everywhere: turn up early, put your name down, do two or three songs, then clear the stage for the next one.

What to expect

A house PA and usually a house guitar, though bring your own if you have one. A host who runs the list and will get you set up. Two or three songs each, more if it is quiet. No fee to play and usually no fee to get in.

Skill level is not the point. Nights that only book good players stop being open mics and start being gigs.

What is coming up

Every session we know about, pulled live from the listings:

Running one?

If you host an open mic or a jam that is not on this list, add it or email us and we will. It is free, and a night with three people at it is exactly the kind of thing this page exists to fix.

If yours is already listed, claim the venue and you can keep the times and the details right yourself.
