Teaselwood have been at St Mary in the Castle this week restoring some of our pews and we're chuffed with the results.
The brilliant Teaselwood (check out their website and amazing work ---> www.teaselwood.co.uk/) have worked tirelessly this week repairing some of the original church pews in our balcony. They have been in need of repair as far back as November 2017 and we've finally raised enough money to have the works completed. The St Mary in the Castle Charitable Trust is an ENTIRELY unfunded charity which means that works like these that are vital in the conservation of the 200 year old church have to be put on hold until the funds become available. Our small team here at St Mary's works tirelessly to ensure that the building can remain open to be enjoyed by Hastings and the surrounding area but unfortunately restoration like this can't take precedence.
Many of you who have visited St Mary in the Castle over the winter will have noticed just how cold it is. Last year our boilers were condemned meaning the building can no longer be heated. In order for our boilers to be fixed we have been tasked with raising a staggering £40,000. We are doing our best to to find suitable funding in hopes that they'll be up and running again before the winter.
If you would like to donate to the works (or happen to have a spare £40,000 tucked in the seat cushions of your sofa!) contact us at email@example.com.
And thank you all for being so patient with us. We love this building and we strive to continue to program amazing events so you can enjoy it for many more years to come.
