Sexton Ming, Ella Guru and Twingo — 2 to 25 October 2026.
Opening night Friday 2 October, 6–9pm. Then Thursday to Saturday from 5pm and Sunday from 3pm; closed Monday to Wednesday.
Medway punk-poetry legend Sexton Ming, his Stuckist painter wife Ella Guru, and their adult offspring Twingo unite for a collaborative exhibition. Billed as “The Family show not for The Family,” the collection cheekily features adult content and nudity where the only traditional “family” element is the DNA shared by the three artists.
Twelve Hundred Postcards is a fitting venue for this show. 80 Queens Road has had many lives — as a shop, office, restaurant and even a dry cleaners. In the early 1900s, it was the Chocolate Box, selling sweets and chocolate. But owner J. A. Wall was also secretly selling French postcards under the counter. Although these would be considered as tame by today’s standards, this was not so at the time. In 1906, Mr Wall was arrested, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three months’ hard labour for corrupting the morals of the community. His collection of 1,200 postcards was destroyed, but the story lives on today through the bar and its collection of postcards.
