As it looks increasingly unlikely that we will see any return to ‘gig-normality’ any time soon we thought we would re-acquaint you with the Hastings musicians you have been so missing…
Purely in order of when we have grabbed their ‘lockdown portraits’ (courtesy of Sara-Louise Bowrey of course…)

What I did or learnt during lockdown?
I’ve made a satirical album about the London Underground, as well as developing my sound for The Mystic Shed. I’ve also been teaching myself electronics to build pedals for local musicians, and cracking on with my university work.

What I did or learnt during lockdown?
I released a couple EPs under the nom de guerre ‘Noah Sebastian Selfridge’, one of which I made with my brother, both of which are available on Soundcloud! I also helped plant grass, built a log shed, wrote some words, dreamt of making “Shed-Noise” with Thomas “Larry Legs” Jones and enjoyed the fascinating stories of Arthur Machen.

What I did or learnt during lockdown?
What I learnt in lockdown to slow right down, enjoy some real time with my family and the simple things in life. I created a home studio to continue my music show which showcases local musicians on Conquest Hospital Radio, Thursdays 8-10pm. Oh and bake lots.

What I did or learnt during lockdown?
I learnt to appreciate being busy. Found a lot of time to focus on gardening though which has been a blessing. Have worked on lots of new material and am really looking forward to making vibrations with other humans on a room at some point. re kindled an old love with Picnic bars!

What I did or learnt during lockdown?
Apart from the first month of fear when I think I had the virus, I’ve learnt that I really enjoy my own company and hanging out with my dachshunds. I’ve had fun performing online for Hastings Isolation station Beatles Day and playing my own songs for Now That’s What I Call Quarantine online festival, as well as appearing as a guest on the Resilience Manifesto Art Show. Through Hastings Thrives, I’m currently running a songwriting class online for 11-16 year olds, so it’s exciting hearing their ideas each week, and I’ve managed to retain a few pupils by moving my music tuition business online too. I’ve drunk a lot less alcohol, and have had more time to write and record songs, create some paintings and start my book, as well as update my website. I’m also enjoying making some videos and finally sorting out my house. It’s been lovely connecting with family and friends old and new, and just sitting and reading in the sunshine in my garden, appreciating life. I’m hoping we’re all learning to treat the planet and each other with much more respect in future.

What I did or learnt during lockdown?
Over the lockdown I have finally learnt to appreciate doing nothing.
When it returns to normal no doubt we’ll all be super busy without a second to spare so it’s been nice making time for things that have been on my to-do list forever like reading the Lord of the Rings books.
