What better way to chase out the December blues than a night of some of the finest new music from a group of experienced and talented musicians who, between them, have pretty much seen and done it all?
If you have any love for the indie-pop heydays of shoegaze then this is one for you!
If that era passed you by we’d seriously recommend you come along to see what you missed…
The Piper in St Leonards is rapidly cementing its target reputation as one of the main go-to venues for contemporary live sounds in the Hastings area, and this Friday (20 December – tickets HERE) is a bit of a red-letter day for the recently re-opened music pub.
Piroshka are a band formed out of common ties and friendships and the urge to write fresh songs that hark back to the roots of those dreamy days of showgaze pop.
And oh my, they do it so well.
But then they ought to – after all, with members drawn from Lush, Elastica, Moose, and Common English they can quiet happily hang the flag of ‘supergroup’ above their door without fear of criticism.
Check out ‘Everlastingly Yours’ from their debut album ‘Brickbat’ and judge for yourself whether this is your cup of tea.
With lyrics cemented in the brutal days we now find ourselves living through, Piroshka capture the zeitgeist whilst at the same time holding true to their sonic heritage.
Fancy a bit more? Here’s the album in full for you Spotify-streamers.
Support on the night comes from the etherial Eva Katherina and the more upbeat Winter Gardens.
All in all this is worth £11 of anyone’s money…
