OK – so this wasn’t what we were expecting as the opening act to Bowling for Soup.

On paper Not UR Girlfrenz should have been a quirky bit of tounge-in-cheek fun. A laughable prelude to the grown-up antics to follow at Bexhill’s De La Warr Pavillion.

But what we have here is three (very young) teenage girls with the swagger, poise and street-wise nonchalance that allows them to carry off a barnstorming set that would be perfectly home on the main stage at Download Festival, Reading, Leeds, or even the grandaddy of them all – Glastonbury.

Seriously – you have to experience this for yourself…but unless you have tickets to the Bowling for Soup tour or are planning a trip to Texas anytime soon you may have to make do with this Spotify list…

Your only problem – if, like us, you are touching your half century – is that somehow it feels a bit awkward being a fan of a band made up of girls who might be your grand-kids!!!

  1. As a keen BFS fan, I’ve seen these girls five times now, both here and in Texas. They really are exceptionally talented for any age, let alone for a three-piece band with a combined age of 39. Well worth looking out for.
