This week at Jason McNiff’s Folk Sundowner, we’re joined by the brilliant Anna Howie 🌿
Blending Americana, folk and country with what she calls “a very British twist,” Anna’s songwriting is rich, honest, and quietly powerful. Her debut EP An Idiot’s Guide to Love, recorded in Nashville, climbed to No.5 in the UK Country Charts, followed by The Friday Night Club — born from her lockdown livestreams and reaching over 2 million views worldwide.
Her latest album Good for Roses dives into love, resilience and self-discovery, earning praise for its lyrical depth and beautifully authentic sound.
Expect a set full of foot-tappers, singalongs, and just the right touch of heartbreak 💛
ABOUT JASON MCNIFF :
Jason is a troubadour who has made nine albums which people call Folk, Americana, or Alt. Country. There is an Englishness in his guitar playing however, and you might like to think of Bert Jansch or Wizz Jones meeting John Prine & Townes Van Zandt. Time Out writes, ‘McNiffs quiet, intimate, fragile-sounding vocals draw you into his world, an almost timeless place, through which he drifts, a romantic loner, a dreamer, at home with the blues.’ He is often touted as one of the UKs most overlooked musical treasures.
‘I love Jason’s version (of Fisherman’s blues)’
Mike Scott, The Waterboys
‘Jason’s versions sound so fresh, whilst staying true to Bert’s timeless music’
