π Gwenifer Raymond began playing guitar at the age of eight shortly after having been first exposed to punk and grunge. In 2018 she signed to the American label Tompkins Square and released her first album ‘You Never Were Much of a Dancer’ to widespread acclaim.
π In 2020 her second album ‘Strange Lights Over Garth Mountain’ shifted somewhat from straight Americana and started to take more of a spiritual influence from the landscape of her homeland of Wales, espousing a style of guitar playing that could be referred to as ‘Welsh Primitive’.
π Since 2005, Buck Curran has recorded and performed as one half of the psych-folk duo Arborea. To date, Arborea has released five albums, including 2013’s ESP-Disk’ release Fortress of the Sun. Buck draws inspiration from the deep well of folk and rock of the 1960s (Robbie Basho, Bert Jansch, Sandy Denny, Martin Simpson, Peter Green, Tim Buckley).
πβWhole worlds hang in the plucked harmonics of Curranβs guitar strings, their deep echoes suggesting lonely, woebegone figures in lost landscapes. The border between folk and electronica shimmers and blursβ¦ a haunted and haunting masterpiece.β Sid Smith, PROG Magazine.
