A defiant boy and his foster father become accidental fugitives in Taika Waititi’s irreverent family caper. Starring the recently departed Sam Neill in the role he named as his favourite. We celebrate the 30th anniversary of the film and pay tribute to this late great actor.
Ricky (Julian Dennison) is a trash-talking misfit sent to start a new life in rural New Zealand. When events threaten his return, he runs into the bush with his foster father Hec (Sam Neill) in pursuit and a national manhunt begins, forcing them to embark on a long trek and overcome their differences.
Based on Barry Crump’s book ‘Wild Pork and Watercress’, Hunt for the Wilderpeople is an endlessly funny and quotable comedy with pitch-perfect performances from Dennison and Neill.
