A Swingin’ Songbook — The Fliss Gorst Band & Grounded Movement
Saxophonist Fliss Gorst brings her acclaimed swing band together with award-winning dance company Grounded Movement (Temujin Gill & Sunanda Biswas) for a high-energy afternoon of live jazz, Lindy Hop and vintage dance culture. Fliss is known for her big tenor sound and “gorgeous phrases” (London Jazz News), with credits including Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express Jazz Club, and a seven-year residency at Poppies Camden. She’s joined by Canadian jazz vocalist Lauren Bush, trumpeter Dave Boraston, bassist Simon Thorpe, drummer Pete Ibbetson, and pianist Liam Dunachie, one of the UK’s most in-demand jazz pianists and a regular performer at Ronnie Scott’s.
Grounded Movement bring their signature blend of Lindy Hop, Tap, Soul and Funk — with credits including Danny Boyle’s London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony, Ray Davies’ Meltdown Festival, and the sell-out Harlem Renaissance production at Greenwich Dance. Expect a short Lindy Hop/Jazz dance workshop to get the room moving, followed by a joyful, dance-friendly swing set full of classics, re-imagined favourites and original tunes.
