The Haunted Moustache

May 17 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

End time TBC

Author and BBC presenter David Bramwell gives a talk that ties together memory, occultism, facial hair and the history of Spiritualism

After inheriting a genuine Victorian moustache in a box, David Bramwell embarked on a ten-year odyssey to discover its original owner. It was an adventure that included seances, spiritual churches, Nick Cave and two years in a cult drinking the Amazonian psychedelic, ayahuasca. As well as being a funny and moving story, David’s talk explores our relationship to objects and how we invest meaning in the world around us, leading to a deeper understanding of the true nature of ‘magick’.

David is the author of The No9 Bus to Utopia and The Odditorium, and co-presenter of the popular Odditorium podcast.

“The Haunted Moustache is a genuinely marvellous demonstration of how beautifully the mechanism of reality functions, if you’re paying sufficient attention. Neurologically, this will light you up like a Christmas tree.” – Alan Moore

“An exceptional storyteller who weaves the truth about a strange inheritance into a hypnotic tale of obsession.” – Radio Times
