FESTIVAL BY THE LAKE 2018
Sunday 24 June
FBL returns for another day of music, food, swimming and cameraderie in the beautiful surroundings of Ashburnham Place, Nr Battle, TN33 9NF.
This year the festival will be formally launching Hastings as a Community of Sanctuary, part of the national City of Sanctuary Network. It aims to bring people together across cultures and communities in a demonstration of hospitality and welcome.
– Music – there is an amazing line up with Ian Shaw, Liane Carroll, Sarah Jane Morris, Los Twangeros, Samaki, King Size Slim and more.
– Eating together – everyone is invited to share in a communal picnic. Bring food, bring friends, make new friends.
– Activities – the day will be full of activities for all ages with workshops, discussions and children’s activities. The festival will repeat the hugely popular tours of the Ashburnham kitchen garden and grounds, and opening up more of the beautiful lake for wild swimming.
– Catering – as well as the communal picnic, there will be food available to buy and a locally-run bar.
The event will run from 12noon – 8pm, with a more family focused daytime session (12-4pm) and a music-focused evening session (5-8pm).

The Forum event will include updates from the local government around the Syrian Resettlement Scheme; good news stories & summaries of what’s going on in community groups around East Sussex, as well as an opportunity for complimentary drinks and treats whilst meeting others in your Borough to discuss local opportunities of being involved with these families yourself.
