South Coast Sisters, an exciting new event showcasing local women in music, has announced their first event for Friday 20 April at Blackmarket VIP in Hastings Old Town.

The event has an amazing lineup, featuring live music from LUCKY GIRL, Victoria McDonnell & Friends and The Kiffs. All proceeds raised from ticket sales will go to Child.Org, an international development charity focused on helping children and mothers in Africa. Child.Org work in some of the most difficult places in the world to grow up, and use a holistic, evidence-led approach to empower children and enable them to attend school and thrive.

Event organiser Hannah Hildreth says: ‘I was inspired by national news coverage of large music festivals, and how so few women were on the bill at some of the biggest music events in the country. I felt that Hastings would benefit from an event specifically created to showcase all of the talented girls and women that we have in our music scene, and aim to promote and support them to a wider audience.’

The latest pilot programme from the charity involves Baby Boxes, which not only hold useful items and information, but act as a safe place for a new baby to sleep. These boxes will act as an incentive for women in rural Kenya to attend neo-natal appointments, and give birth safely in hospital.

Advance tickets are on sale now for £6 and are available at www.ti.to/child-org/southcoastsisters.
